The South African Rugby Legends Association (SARLA) is hosting their third webinar in aid of the #RugbyUnites initiative. #RugbyUnites has brought major rugby unions and former players, coaches and administrators together off the field, to pitch in by packing food parcels for charities throughout South Africa. In excess of 10,000 food parcels have been packed in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and Durban so far.
Episode 3 is getting fast and furious as host, Sevens great and Springbok Sevens High Performance Manager, Marius Schoeman, welcomes Blitzbok Captain Siviwe Soyizwapi and Coach Neil Powell into the virtual lounge, for an enlightening discussion about rugby’s fastest competition. With the HSBC Sevens series cancelled for 2020, the experts will discuss the disappointment of not being able to push for gold this year; the looming Olympic Games next year in Japan and the 2022 Sevens World Cup, to be hosted in South Africa.
In December 2019, Siviwe led the winning Blitzboks squad in Dubai, where they convincingly beat the All Blacks 15-0, taking home gold. As the match happened on 7th December, it was a particularly meaningful win for Siviwe because it was also his birthday. Neil is not only the current Blitzboks Coach, he also coached them at the 2016 Summer Olympics, where they won a bronze medal. He followed that up with gold in the 2016-17 World Rugby Sevens Series.
Those who secure their tickets for the webinar will have the added privilege of being able to ask questions via email, which will be answered by Neil and Siviwe during their on-air discussion. And while this webinar is free, donations can still be made to the #RugbyUnites initiative, which is feeding hungry families throughout South Africa who have been affected by COVID-19.
Take advantage of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to interact with the world’s top rugby stars before tickets run out. Tickets to attend Episode 3, on Tuesday, 29th September at 8PM CAT are now available on www.sarugbylegends.com.
SARLA CEO Stefan Terblanche says,
“we are coming to the end of a very strange year, where the sport we love had to be put on hold due to completely unexpected circumstances. But it is almost over. And as sports begin to resume, Sevens fans all over the world are crying out for some great games to watch. We’re very excited to hear from Siviwe and Neil how they see the resumption of play panning out, and what their winning strategy is going to be when it all kicks off next year”.
Ticket holders can email their questions for Siviwe and Neil to firstname.lastname@example.org, using the subject line #RugbyUnites Webinar.
