SASRA - return to rugby 2021

Statement regarding the return to play by the South African Schools Rugby Association.

It is with great relief that schools have received permission to return to sport. This news was published in the Government gazette number 44339 on 27 March 2021. The permission is granted with the proviso that the Covid safety measures are strictly adhered to, as published in the gazette.

SARU have released a media statement today about the return to play, as the custodians of rugby in South Africa. Inter school rugby games may resume on Friday 23 April 2021. It has also been agreed that after the first two weeks of contact training have been completed, schools may introduce chukkas into their practice sessions, which may be used as school trials.

SASRA support the return to play policy issued by SARU as the safe return to play for our players is a priority.
