Academics

Mitchell House offers a comprehensive academic programme aligned with the CAPS curriculum in the Prep School and the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) in the College. Small class sizes ensure each learner receives individual attention and personalised attention, with teachers acting not only as subject experts but also as mentors who guide learners toward excellence. Innovative teaching methods and well-resourced classrooms promote 21st-century learning, with a strong focus on communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

The College introduced its first matric class in 2012, and since then has steadily developed a reputation for academic excellence and holistic learner development. Academic support and enrichment programmes are available throughout, helping learners to grow both inside and outside the classroom.

Cultural

Beyond the classroom and sports fields, we offer a vibrant cultural life. Learners are exposed to drama, music, marimba, visual arts, dance, debating, public speaking, spelling bees, and other co-curricular activities that enrich the school experience. Annual events such as drama productions, musical performances, and heritage celebrations provide platforms for learners to showcase their creativity and build confidence.

Cultural involvement is encouraged across all phases, reinforcing our belief that education must nourish the whole child - academically, socially, emotionally, and creatively.

Sports

Physical education plays a vital role in the life of every learner. With extensive sports fields and thoroughgoing coaching, learners are encouraged to participate in a variety of sporting codes throughout the year. Major sporting codes include soccer, cricket, netball, tennis, swimming, hockey, athletics, and cross-country.

Our approach to physical education is inclusive - every child is given the opportunity to play, compete, and improve. Inter-house competitions and inter-school fixtures foster school spirit and encourage teamwork, discipline, and healthy living.

Boarding House

Established in 2014, our Boarding House offers a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment for College learners from Grades 8 to 12. It features modern bedrooms, communal lounges, study areas, fully functional Wi-Fi, and backup power solutions ensuring uninterrupted study, comfort, and connectivity.

Meals are served in the multi-purpose Nutrition Centre in a warm, family-style setting, and daily laundry services add to the convenience of boarding life. Under the care of the resident Boarding House Master and supportive staff, learners are guided in developing independence, responsibility, and strong life skills, while remaining fully engaged in school life.
