Michaelhouse, 25 April 2026: Kearsney 1st X1 & U16A sides at the Michaelhouse Hockey Festival

The 1st team enjoyed an outstanding run through the festival, stringing together a series of impressive wins against Paarl Boys’ High, Reddam Constantia, Hilton College and Maritzburg College. Their consistent performances earned them a well-deserved place in the final. In a hard-fought championship match, they came up against a clinical Northwood side and finished as runners-up, securing an excellent second place overall.

The U16A side produced a spirited campaign in a highly competitive pool. They secured convincing victories over Hilton and St Andrew’s, showcasing their attacking flair and defensive discipline and a narrow victory by shoot-out against Paarl Boys’ High. Their momentum carried them into the semi-finals, where they faced a strong Rondebosch outfit and narrowly missed out on a place in the final. They went on to contest the 3rd / 4th playoff against Maritzburg College, ultimately finishing a commendable fourth overall.

Kearsney’s teams displayed resilience, teamwork and a high standard of hockey across the festival, setting a strong benchmark early in the season. The experience gained against top-tier opposition will no doubt stand them in good stead for the challenges ahead.
