INTRODUCTION
Established in 1953, Port Shepstone High School has, for over 70 years, been at the forefront of education in Southern KZN. This co-educational school provides high quality education for young people, equipping them with essential life skills to cope in modern society as young adults.

Port Shepstone High School has a well-established multicultural environment which promotes harmony and tolerance and accepts cultural diversity, whilst promoting integrity, perseverance and mutual respect.

The policy at Port Shepstone High School is to offer “Education for life”. This is not only realized in the academic faculties, but also in the large number of extra-mural activities available to the learners at the school.

Sport and culture are an integral part of the well-rounded package offered by our school. Great emphasis is placed on participation and many of our learners are selected for Provincial teams each year.

The Drama Department boasts an annual production which is a highlight on the school’s cultural calendar and is critically acclaimed by both press and public.

BOARDING

Some 50 female boarders are accommodated in the Four Winds Hostel which is on the premises of Port Shepstone High School. The emphasis in the boarding Establishment is placed on learner self-discipline which fosters a caring attitude for one’s fellow boarders. Accommodation is for girls only.

Boarders enjoy the use of all the schools’ excellent facilities after normal school hours. The swimming pool, netball and basketball courts and the indoor sports center as well as the fields are extensively used by our boarders, as are the library and the school’s computer network.

The pastoral care of the boarders is the responsibility of the resident teachers under the guidance of the superintendent. Each boarder is nurtured by an established pastoral care system in order that each may fulfil her potential.

Experienced resident teachers and qualified matrons ensure that the needs of the girls are met. In the dining room, only the highest standards are maintained with regards to the quality and quantity of food provided.
